Write Neatly: Be sure that your handwriting is neat and you don't spill anything on the application. This is the first impression that your employer will have of you so create a good one impression with your application.
Job Experience: When you complete your job application, you want to fill in everything that applies to you. If you've had previous jobs, you need to write those on the application. This gives your potential employer information about your previous experience. Don't forget to include the dates you worked, the hours, and the salary. Don't forget to include babysitting or lawn mowing as experience if you don't have any other job experience.
Position and Salary Desired: When you complete the section about what position you want and your desired pay for the job you're applying for, don't just leave it blank. Write something there, even if it's "open" or "negotiable" so they know you didn't forget it.
Leave it Out: If there is something about your past jobs that might not get you hired on your next job, leave it out of the application. For example, if you got fired because you were always late, do not include that in your application. No one wants to hire someone who cannot be on time. You can either leave the job out completely or change the reason for leaving.
Numbers: Be sure all your numbers are correct, including your social security number, phone, address, zip code, and telephone number.
Signature: If your signature is required, don't forget to sign it.
Dress to impress. Be sure your clothes are wrinkle-free and clean. Your clothes should be appropriate for the job. In other words, if you are applying at a gas station, wear jeans, if a restaurant, wear dress clothes.
Be on time.
Have a pen and paper ready to write down details.
Look at interviewer.
Don't fiddle with anything.
Speak up and make yourself heard.
Use clear, direct answers and do not stray from the answer to tell stories.
Always be on time. Being late is one of the reasons that teens get fired. No one wants to wait on you and you don't want to wait on anyone to be able to leave work.
Don't take off. Don't take off work if it's not urgent. If you take off too many days, you will get fired. You were hired because they need you there to work. So be there!
Follow instructions. If you were asked to wash the dishes, do it. Don't do something else instead.
Keep busy. If you've completed your task, do something else or ask what else you can do. You are there to work and not sit around or chat on the phone.
Make suggestions. If you think something could be done a different way, especially to save your employer money, be sure you mention it to your supervisor. This will make you look wonderful and it could cause you to get a pay increase.
